Class 1 and 2on Fort Collins paved trails

Fort Collins and Loveland are joined by the Long View Trail, 4.4 paved miles up the west side of the US-287 corridor with about fifty feet of climbing, which is to say none. From the Loveland loop the Front Range Trail connector hands you onto it, so a Loveland e-bike day can end at a Fort Collins lunch and still get home on one battery.

If you are staying in Fort Collins, we are a fifteen-minute drive south. Pick up a bike in Loveland, ride the loop or the river trail, and be back before dinner; or ask for the Long View route card and ride to your own front door, and we will collect the bike by arrangement.

Two sets of rules on one ride

The southern half of the Long View Trail is a Larimer County regional trail and the northern half belongs to Fort Collins, so two land managers govern a single ride. Both welcome Class 1 and 2 e-bikes on pavement, and the trail page cites each.

Where an e-bike may ride in Fort Collins

Fort Collins allows Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes on paved, designated trails in its parks, recreation areas, and Natural Areas, and prohibits Class 3 on any trail; unpaved Natural Area trails are closed to every class, and a posted sign always wins. The city has said an updated ordinance is coming, so this is one we re-check. Horsetooth Reservoir and its foothill trails belong to Larimer County, where e-bikes stay on pavement too.

Every rule above is quoted, dated, and linked on the e-bike rules page; access rules change, and we re-check them each season.
