Estes Park is the destination at the top of our flagship ride: forty-five minutes by car down US-34 to us, or most of a glorious day by e-bike on the Big Thompson Canyon tour, which climbs 2,200 feet from Loveland to Lake Estes and turns around with a long stop in town.
Our tours end at the lake, outside the Rocky Mountain National Park boundary; the park sets its own bicycle and e-bike rules, and we give you the straight version of them when you pick up. If you are staying in Estes and want the descent without the climb, ask about logistics when you book; gravity is negotiable.
Riding in town
Estes Park's multi-use paths take e-bikes at a 15 mph cap with posted dismount zones along the downtown Riverwalk. The Lake Estes Trail is managed by the recreation district, which has published no e-bike rule; we say so rather than guess, and we are asking them in writing.
Where an e-bike may ride in and beyond Estes Park
On the town's multi-use paths, Class 1 and 2 e-bikes are allowed at 15 mph or less and must yield to pedestrians. Inside Rocky Mountain National Park, electric bicycles may go only where the park allows bicycles, which means roads open to cars; every trail in the park is closed to them. US-34 through the canyon is a state highway where an e-bike rides as a vehicle.
